So I came to Australia, started a blog... and then wrote nothing for years! I bet you thought I fell off the face of the earth.
Alas, no, here I am safe and sound and on a new path.
In fact, here I am travelling in style.
Keep your eye open for new updates... if you have been following my Facebook - you already have an inkling of what is coming!
Keep your eyes open and watch this space.
PS - In this photo I was riding in the back of our new Odyssey - very cush ride... (yes, I am wearing Juliette's watermelon hat, what of it?)

Thought of the day #6 - "Birthdays"
As my birthday is drawing near, and I am thinking about Juliette's birthday. I figure Birthdays are quite a good topic of discussion for a blog.
There are hundreds of things you can do to host a birthday party... and by subclass you can have nearly any theme you like. My personal favorites are Murder mystery in the genre of Agatha Christie novels
For kids birthdays, fairies, knights, princesses, pirates, and wizards seem to be more their speed.
What is/was your favorite birthday party/event...

Thought of the Day #5 -- "Weekends Off"
I took the weekend off from blogging, chalking it up to my taking a break from a job or commitment.
I was thinking about this over the weekend...
1. Because I made the commitment to myself that I should have 30 consecutive thoughts for blogging, and
2. because I was trying to define how strong my conviction for blogging really is.
So what really are "Weekends Off"?
By a Google search you will find this definition:
the working week) is part of the 7-day week
devoted to labor, as opposed to rest. In many
countries it is Monday to Friday. What constitutes
the workweek is mandated either by law or custom.
...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weekend_off
Individually we sometimes define our "off" time as time away from work, other times we define it as time to ourselves away from everyone and everything. Some people might consider a weekend off, time when they can spend their energy blogging...
For me, a weekend off is when I can do what I feel like doing, away from any obligations.
This weekend, it meant no blogging for 2 days which sort of coincided with the weekend.. you will notice that I finished Friday's thought on Saturday, but only because I fell asleep too early Friday.
So what do you do on your "Weekends Off"?
Share with us the curiosities of mind and soul... we need a little excitement in our lives!

Thought of the Day #4 -- "Sleep"
Sleep... it is the time of day when you are seemingly not accomplishing anything, but it is 100% necessary to live your life.
When deprived of sleep we become cranky, inefficient and possibly destructive. When you have too much sleep you can become addicted to sleep and want more of it.
Who is to say what is the right amount of sleep... and does the average 8 hours work for everyone all the time?
Sleep is on my mind as I put my darling daughter in her bed each night, I wonder what dreams she is having, if she will sleep well and awake rested and alert, and if she wonders where I went after I left her in her bed. I am sadly now obsessed with nap times and bed times and waking from sleep, or not waking a sleeping baby; so much so that I've begun to wonder if I am getting enough sleep.
Sleep Related Sayings:
O sleep, O gentle sleep,
Nature's soft nurse, how have I frighted thee,
That thou no more wilt weigh my eyelids down
And steep my sense in forgetfulness?

Thought of the Day #3 -- "forgetfulness"
So have you ever had a perfect thought, intended to commit it to memory, and within hours forgotten it completely?
I am pretty sure I had a perfect thought today, but since I cannot remember what it was, I can neither prove nor disprove my belief...
Somehow that is a little inconvenient though I am sure if I could remember it, this would have been a brilliant post!

Thought of the Day #2 -- "Following Blogs"
When did following blogs become the norm?
Are we so attached to our technology that we forgot how to sit down and have a cuppa with the neighbor or our best mate?
Yeah, I am thinking of this because I realized all my best mates are overseas and in another time zone. (This is certainly not to discount any new friends I have made while here in Oz, but the people in the USA have known me better for longer).
So really then, what is the etiquette for following a blog, and who makes up this rule anyway?
I'd like to invite your discussions below, please feel free to comment and share your views, this isn't a q&A session, but rather a way to visit over a cuppa without being in the same room.
:-)
And besides, I have no desire to spend all my time showing off creative witticisms, I'd rather spend my time enjoying my family and friends.

Thought of the Day #1
For the next several days I will post one thought that resonates throughout the day for me... This is a test, to see if I can really and truly keep up with my blogging thoughts.

Today's thought: "Budgets"
A budget is really just your way of fooling yourself into believing that you are getting the best value for money within the constraint that you have set for yourself... the reality is, you are going to get what you want regardless of what your little budget piece of paper restricts you to getting, and it is likely to cost you more that what you initially believed it would.
_________________________________________________________________________________
As you guessed correctly, Daniel and I have been reviewing the costs for our upcoming Disney Vacation (and Vow Renewal/Wedding). And no, it isn't weighing heavily on my mind, but it did keep me up late tonight.
Off to bed, see you tomorrow.
